Graduate Student Day Competition Session (11 minutes)
1. The competition for best graduate student presentation is for students seeking master's, specialist's, and/or doctoral degrees.
2. Each graduate student day session is 45-minutes, with 2-3 presentations during this allotted time. Each participant will limit their presentation to 11 minutes. Each presentation will be followed by a single questions form the audience to ensure all presenters have the same time to present. Unused presentation time will be devoted to audience questions.
3. To prepare the judges, competitors will submit a 5-page essay based on the presentation to the coordinator, John Maddox (jtmaddox@uab.edu) one week before the presentation. He will contact you to remind you of this requirement.
4. Students may present in the language of their choice and according to the norms of their field: reading or speaking extemporaneously, but they are expected to speak clearly. A PowerPoint or other visual aid is highly encouraged.
