szimmerman@westportps.orgDear Fourth Grade Students and Families,
Westport Public Schools' award-winning, 80-year tradition of instrumental music IS happening!!
Instrumental music is a well-loved tradition and a rite of passage here in Westport. Playing a musical instrument and participating in a musical ensemble is an incredibly valuable way for your child to learn skills that s/he will carry throughout life.
Your fourth grader will begin learning to play the violin, viola, cello or bass. The group lesson will be taught virtually on Zoom when students are at home, and will not conflict with any other specials.
To help you and your child make an informed decision, please view the videos below with your child. Make sure you listen to all of the instruments offered and choose the top two instruments you love the sound of most.

Instrument assignments, sizing, and rental information will be emailed as soon as possible. Please do not rent an instrument until you receive your child's instrument assignment and further instructions. Thank you and we're looking forward to getting your child started on a string instrument!
Sincerely yours,
