Wednesday, April 13, 8:00 PM, St. James UMC - The Backpacking Derby - A super-fun, "formal" approach to learning how to THRIVE (not just survive) when backpacking!

Wednesday, April 20, 7:00 PM, Buckhead Goodwill followed by dinner at Gusto! (with a Willy's next door) - Bring some cash and shop for your finest formal backpacking wear!  Then we will grab dinner together and plan the specifics for our trip.

Backpacking Formal Details:

WHEN:  April 30 - May 1.  Our Saturday departure time will be determined at the Venturing meeting on April 20, but plan for morning.  We will return to St. James early afternoon on Sunday, probably between 11:00 and 1:00.  

WHERE:
We will meet at St. James UMC and then carpool together to the Cheaha Trailhead of the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama.  It's about a two hour drive.

COST:
The cost of the trip is $30 and includes lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.  (Driving adult advisors are free.)

WHAT TO BRING:
This is a backpacking trip.  So, you will need backpacking basics.  We will go over everything you need to backpack at our April 13 meeting.  You can check out this handy packing list (https://troop370atlanta.org/documents/Harry%20Packing%20List.pdf) to serve as a guide, but please ask questions if this is your first backpacking trip with us.  We have tents, backpacks, and other gear you can borrow, if needed.  Just ask.

CAMPOUT PLANNING:
We will plan the details of our backpacking trip at the Venturing Crew meeting on Wednesday, April 20.  We hope you can make it!  

NOTES:
Try to register as soon as you can.  This is a great trip to bring a friend along!
