Summer Group Classes? What Do You Think?
I'm trying to decide whether to offer group classes this summer and I need your help!

Below, you'll see (3) big categories of group classes:  Week-Long Group Classes (start M, end F), 8-Week Group Classes, and Occasional Group Classes

Could you use this form to let me know which pique your interest?  Please feel free to forward this form to friends who you think might appreciate it.

And thank you for your support!

Week-Long Group Classes (M-F)
General Rules
  • New classes would start every Monday and end every Friday.

  • Classes are tentatively scheduled to begin the week of June 19th and will run for the next 8 weeks (through the week of August 7th) (SDUSD Last and First Days of School: June 14th and August 21st).

  • I am currently thinking of offering four different kinds of week-long group classes (Music Explorations, Synthesizer Symphony, Singing Stars, and Dramatic Arts Workshops) at $125/week each.  If all three are actually offered, students who take all three in a particular week will receive a $75 price break for that week.

  • 10% off the 2nd (and 3rd etc.) students from the same family.

  • Age ranges for offered classes are currently TBD and will be informed by your feedback here.  Each class described below could be tailored to many different ages, from children (8 years old*) to adults of all ages.  I just need to know who wants what!

  • Times and location are currently TBD as well as I gauge interest and find space to hold these classes (currently looking at a nice place in Pacific Beach near Sprouts that does not have T availability; if I go with that option, week-long classes will only be 4 days (M, W-F) or T classes will be in a different location; if only 4 days are offered, the weekly price will be reduced from the price shown here).  If you're interested in a class and know your summer availability, please share!
* If you have a child younger than 8 who you think might benefit from a class described below, contact me to discuss options for your child.
Music Explorations (week-long class)
General Description
  • $125/week
  • 50 min. week-long group class (M-F)
  • min. 6; max TBD (likely 12, possibly fewer if interested participants skew younger, possibly more if interested participants skew older)
  • no previous musical knowledge required (none of the Music Explorations classes have prerequisites, but students with no previous musical knowledge will have a better time if they take Time & Rhythm I and Pitch I or Pitch II before the others)
  • students with previous musical knowledge will likely still learn something every week
Week-by-Week Offerings (tentative order)
  1. Week 1Time & Rhythm I (learn how to write rhythms with quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, eighth notes, and their correlative rests; introduce conducting patterns; possibly introduce dotted notes)
  2. Week 2Pitch I (Treble Clef)
  3. Week 3Pitch II (Bass Clef)
  4. Week 4Pitch III (Solfege)
  5. Week 5Pitch IV (Alto Clef)

  7. Week 7Time & Rhythm II (time signatures)
