• Eligibility: A trainee or researcher in virology (considered broadly), at the undergraduate, graduate, postdoc, or junior faculty/professional level.

• All information will be kept confidential. Include as much detail as you are comfortable with, and emphasize any areas in which you hope to connect with potential mentors. 
  

• Timeline: The Mentee Inventory Survey will be available during and after the ASV meeting (approximately June 25 - July 25). Matching will occur through the late summer and fall. 

• We will provide you with their information and contact information and we can then provide an introduction by e-mail, or you can reach out to those you choose directly. 

• The rest is up to you. You and your mentor can decide when and how often to meet (perhaps monthly or quarterly).  

Mentee expectations:

• Be prepared to drive the interaction with your mentor, have goals and questions prepared when you meet.

• Respect your mentor’s time and meet at agreed times. 

• You can end a mentoring relationship at any time. We ask that you communicate with the mentor to let them know. We encourage you to have a discussion about “renewing” the mentoring relationship after 1 year. Perhaps your career stage, goals, or challenges have changed.
