History Department Student Advisory Council Application
Thank you for your interest in being part of the History Department's Student Advisory Board!  As a Student Advisory Board member, you will have the opportunity to develop as a leader, serve as a primary point of departmental contact, and connect in meaningful ways with faculty members, fellow students, and prospective students interested in UMBC's History Department.
Activities include:
Meet with faculty to provide feedback on undergraduate curriculum, courses, and policies
Assist in recruitment and information sessions for prospective History majors
Assist in planning events for students interested in History
Reach out to majors and minors and interested students to share your experiences
Provide history students more opportunities to offer their perspectives and opinions at the departmental level

Commitment:
Meet approximately 2-4 times a semester, which includes meetings with faculty members and recruitment events.
Selection Criteria:
Current UMBC undergraduate history major with at least 2 remaining semesters until graduation
Ability to be a team player and an enthusiastic representative of UMBC
Good academic standing (at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrated leadership skills and potential
Desire and ability to work well with diverse groups and individuals as well as interest in connecting with others.
