The Task Force will be composed of 7-10 subcommittees, each with key stakeholder representation, including educators, caregivers, and students. Subcommittees will meet 6 to 8 times from May- June 30th (Grading & Assessments will begin meeting in April) and receive a stipend of $250.
Commitment:
Task forces will begin close to May 1st and complete their work by June 30th (except Grading and possibly Assessments). Each group will have 6-8 meetings during this period.
Stipends Available:
Caregivers who request it may be compensated for their time with a stipend of $250
Decision Making and Input:
These subcommittees are designed to provide stakeholder input into district policy. The relevant administrator/superintendent will make the ultimate education/operation decision.
2. Joint Steering Committee: (Meets as needed when waivers are submitted to Committe)
The Joint Steering Committee of the Boston Public Schools and the Boston Teachers Union is responsible for oversight and monitoring of School-Based Management and School Site Councils. The Joint Steering Committee is composed of the Superintendent of Schools, the President of the BTU, who serve as Co-chairs, five additional members who represent the diverse racial and ethnic constituencies of the parties, five parents (1 CPC, 2 SpEdPAC, and 2 DELAC) and two student representatives. The Joint Steering Committee meets as needed when School Site Councils are requesting policy waivers. They do not meet on a regular basis.
