Native Bee Expo and Sugarbag Festival 2023

On Sunday the 5th of February 2023, the ANBA, in collaboration with local Indigenous groups, will stage the first Australian Native Bee Keeping Expo. This one-day event will be held at the Bulimba community Centre and adjacent section of Bulimba Park, Brisbane.

The goal of the event is:

  • To increase awareness of, and to celebrate, Australian Native Bees

  • To share knowledge of practical beekeeping techniques

  • To celebrate connection to Indigenous culture

  • To promote native bee business / enterprises and organisations (can be hobby-business)

  • Host workshops and demonstrations by bee keepers

The event will be a mix of demonstrations, workshops, trade stalls and information stands. Our popular native bee hive exhibition will be the centrepiece. Food stalls will keep you nourished. Businesses will be selling hives, products, accessories, honey etc. Entry is FREE!
