Performance and Pride Expectations
Welcome to the Triangle Pride Band!
The Triangle Pride Band is a community band program designed to provide opportunities for musicianship, community building, and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community in the Triangle area of North Carolina. The Triangle Pride Band holds two commitments: (1) to create a space for musicians to perform and rehearse high-quality music, and (2) to uplift and create safe spaces for socialization and community-building in the LGBTQIA+ community.
To accomplish these goals, every member of the Triangle Pride Band must affirm and agree to two primary commitments:
(1) Members of the Triangle Pride Symphonic Band commit, with all good faith and effort, to come to each weekly rehearsal (Sundays from 6 to 8 PM) and attend major performances as designated. While this is a community ensemble and we want music-making to be relaxed and stress-free, the rehearsal and performance process is close to impossible when the configuration and instrumentation of the ensemble changes rapidly from week to week. By signing up for this performance cycle of the Triangle Pride Band, you agree to show up to each rehearsal in good faith, barring illness, emergency, or unavoidable commitments. If you are unable to attend a rehearsal, you understand that you are expected to communicate this absence with ample notice through email or private message to a Triangle Pride Band section leader or leadership member.
(2) To consistently create a safe and affirming space for LGBTQIA+ musicians, community members, allies, and friends. This includes using inclusive language, respecting the identities of band members, and working to uplift each member of the ensemble to the great community.
