Matthews Fire and EMS (MFEMS) provides professional fire and emergency medical services outside of regular duty operations for a wide variety of events. MFEMS coordinates all staffing and equipment needs for events that require life safety protective services and will work with you to ensure you have the most appropriate coverage.
On-going and annual events staffed by MFEMS include events at the Matthews Sportsplex, high school, college, and semi-pro sporting events, cultural events like Beachfest, Festival of India, Taste of Italy, and Matthews Alive, fireworks displays, and numerous other types of events.
In addition to event services, MFEMS is also able to provide the required staffing for assignments at any residential or commercial building when a fire department inspection or event determines that life safety issues mandate such services as a fire watch.
Requests for medical coverage will be filled with North Carolina certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's). These EMT's are certified to provide basic first aid such as bleeding control and fracture immobilization. They also provide skilled services for more critical events such as anaphylactic reactions, heart attacks, asthma attacks, cardiac arrests, overdoses, and other life threatening situations. All EMT's will come equipped with a full compliment of medical and trauma supplies, oxygen, and and an AED. EMT's will also have a radio that has direct communications with advanced ground care, air care, hospitals, and law enforcement.
Requests for fire coverage will be filled with North Carolina certified firefighters. Each of these women and men have undergone a minimum of 500 hours of training to achieve this certification. All firefighters will come equipped with a full compliment extinguishing agents needed for your event, as well as medical and trauma supplies, oxygen, and and AED. Firefighters will also have radios that are capable of direct communications with advanced ground care, air care, hospitals, and law enforcement, and additional fire resources.
