Teams can be between 3 and 6 pupils, all of whom should be in Years 4-6 (aged 8-11).

3 students will debate in each round. The students who debate can remain constant or rotate. All 6 students can be involved in preparing the impromptu debate and speaking in the floor debates. We will be in touch for details of students in January.

Online briefing and Q&A session
We do ask that at least one member of staff from every school attends one of the briefing sessions.
Session they'll be attending *
We have a range of options designed to suit the amount of experience you already have of debating, and how much you want to develop this exciting form of critical oracy over the next two terms.

Silver (£450)
  • One half-day debating workshop for up to 24 students (date to be booked between October 2023-January 2024)
  • One team in the competition (includes staff briefing and resources)
  • One teacher attending online twilight CPD “Having a thriving debate culture in your school” on Monday 4 March 2024, 5.00-6.00pm (on Zoom)
Gold (£600)
  • All of the above, but with a full day of workshops for either two groups of 24 pupils (one in the morning and one in the afternoon), or a full day of activities for one group of 24 pupils
Competition only (£100)
  • It is still essential that a member of staff attends one of our briefing and Q&A sessions.
