The Foundation makes awards annually to help young people under the age of 25. The awards are open to all those who are permanently resident in the parishes of Steeple Aston and Middle Aston (when not at university or college), or who have attended Dr Radcliffe’s School in Steeple Aston for at least two years.
These awards are for educational purposes, predominantly at post GCSE stage, to young people in further or higher education, on apprenticeships or formal job training. They will not normally cover school or tuition fees, but will provide modest sums to meet needs for extra items. In the past awards have been made to help fund school and college field trips, tools and equipment for apprenticeship or training, uniforms for trainees, specialist software and laptops, music lessons where exceptional standards can be demonstrated, equipment for students at college or university and help with living expenses for those living away from home.
Awards are made at the discretion of the Trustees of Dr Radcliffe’s School Foundation based on the financial need of the applicant. The circumstances of the parental household will be taken into consideration, but there is no restriction as to family income. Each case is considered on the basis of the application made. Students can apply any year that they are eligible regardless of whether they have received an award in the past.
Awards to young people aged 16 (post GCSE) to 18 will usually only be made to those with a family income below £45,000.
Applications for awards must be submitted by 11th November in the year of application. Applications made after this deadline would only be considered under exceptional circumstances and at the Trustees’ discretion. We normally aim to let you know the outcome by the end of December.
The committee reserves the right to exercise our discretion whether to make an award or not.
If your application is successful you will be notified by the Clerk to the Trustees and asked to give details of your bank account. These details will only be seen by the Clerk to the Trustees to enable them make a direct payment into your bank account. These details would not be kept on file after this.
