It's okay if you don't have a business or products you want to sell, but still want to be involved with the KID BIZ experience! You can partner with a Market Mentor and be an intern!
Youth interns bring their perspective, hopes, questions and vision.
Together we’re creating a marketplace to support small and even micro local businesses in order to help regenerate the community in North Texas.
We believe that projects are energized and enriched when they include
peer to peer collaboration, mentorship, and inter-generational work. Our focus is to create opportunities for education and engagement and small-scale economic development.
Youth Internship program offers work-based learning, mentorship and skill development focused on the local farm to market economic system. Interns are
able to learn and assist at the Farmers Market under an experienced Market Mentor with a variety of activities and additional opportunities tailored to
fit their interests.
The intended age group is 10 to 18, however younger people may apply.
How do internships work?
At the Saturday Market: Interns arrive on-site at 8:30
am and finish by 1:30 pm on market days. An intern may opt to
sign up for additional markets upon the completion of the KID BIZ market.
If your (child's) interest is in getting a sneak peak behind the scenes at the market, involvement would include:
Market Operations:
- Market day operations: support vendors, market setup and take-down.
- Site beautification and gardens: plant, tend, weed, and water market plants.
- Market information booth: greet community members, inform them about our market/events
- Create social media: take photographs at the market and create social media posts. DWFFM is on Facebook and Instagram
**Must be signed up and approved by 12p Thursday to be considered for a Saturday internship.**
