Congratulations on being selected as a member of the 2020-2021 Dekaney High School 'Blue Legacy' Chamber Choir. You were all selected because of your outstanding vocal talent and skill, as well as your in-class leadership, energy, and hard work. Blue Legacy is going to be an outstanding opportunity next year, and it is something to which all of its members must absolutely be committed. There are a few requirements for participation in Blue Legacy that are different than the other choral ensembles, all of these are intended to challenge you and to help you grow as a musician!

The Wildcat Choral Department will be distributing more information to all of you over the summer via email and Remind/Group Chat. It is absolutely imperative that you maintain connectivity to the other members of Blue Legacy as well as the directors at all times during the summer and the school year. It is sometimes necessary for us to distribute information to you very quickly and much of our planning is time-sensitive because of the highly visible nature of our ensemble. I assure you that with your cooperation the quality of performance, experience, ensemble, and all-around enjoyment of your year will increase DRAMATICALLY in the 2020-2021 School year! I hope you are all excited to be a part of this group of talented singers!

The following are expectations for participation for ALL members of the 2020-2021 Blue Legacy Ensemble. Please add these dates to your calendars and look for more information from us soon concerning them:

-- July 27-30, 2020 - Spring ISD All-Region Workshop @ Dekaney High School and/or Westfield High School
-- ALL HOME FOOTBALL GAMES - We sing the National Anthem - Schedule will be coming out soon
-- September 19 or 26, 2020 - Region 33 All-District Choir Auditions @ Westfield High School
-- October 13, 2020 - Region 33 All-Region Choir Auditions @ Atascocita High School
-- November 6 & 7, 2020 - Region 33 All-Region Choir Clinic & Concert @ Dekaney High School
-- December 1, 2020 - Region 33 Pre-Area Audition (if Advanced) @ Spring High School
-- February 27, 2021 - AMC Madrigal and Chamber Choir Competition (Dallas Over-Night Trip)
-- Any other dates will be added as soon as possible.

Chamber Choir students must participate in the TMEA All-State process, and in order to support them in this process, Spring ISD provides a FREE WORKSHOP for all participating students from the school district. All Dekaney Blue Legacy students must prioritize attendance for this All-Region workshop on July 27 - 30 (more information TBA): *

Because of the various commitments of the Blue Legacy Chamber Choir, there is an additional fee for participants. This fee covers: Blue Legacy Shirt, TMEA All-State music, transportation costs, competition entry fees, and our Madrigal Festival Trip to Dallas. The fee is $150 and may be paid in installments: *

I understand that being a member of BLUE LEGACY is an extreme honor for which many qualified singers auditioned. Along with this honor is a commitment to work towards a common goal of excellence in music, ideal citizenship, and a family atmosphere. I also understand that I am a role model in the department and I am responsible for my actions in and out of the classroom. *

I would like to ACCEPT the invitation to join the Blue Legacy Ensemble, and will do my best to make the utmost commitment to the expectations outlined in this contract.

It is extremely important that all of our members have the full support of their parents/guardians in order to participate in these outstanding opportunities! Just as the students involved in this select ensemble are leaders on their campus, we will need parent leadership also.
