Make a list of churches in your area with contact information (administrator and pastor's emails and phone numbers.)
Make initial contact with pastors and churches to gauge church support and let them know your plans.
Hold the community meeting.
At the meeting, invite people to indicate their interest in being involved(prayer, financial, or volunteering time.) Collect emails and phone numbers.
Create a mailing list of people to receive newsletter (with permission).
Meet with people who are interested in serving on the steering committee and give them a questionnaire to complete.

Pray for God's guidance regarding who should serve on your board of directors
Develop an information package for board applicants
Bring potential board members names forward at a steering committee (those recommended by the steering committee meeting, those that have indicated that they are interested in serving on the board and discuss whether you wish to invite them to apply to the board of the directors.
Make a list of those you plan to invite to apply
Ask nominees to prayerfully consider serving on your board
Provide interested individuals with an information package
Interview the candidates
Check candidate's references
Vote on those that have been interviewed and inform the applicants of the committee's decision
Provide orientation to the new board members
