What is a monologue? -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-3mfDMuz38 Choose a one-minute monologues from a published play. This enables the directors to see a range in your acting skills.
Here are some tips to help you choose monologues that are best for you:
-Look for a piece that speak to you personally; that excite and interest you.
-Read the entire play that the monologue comes from. Understanding the play enables you to more fully embody the character you’re portraying and helps put the monologue into a larger context.
Please also note that this play was selected because it provides flexible rehearsing options, so we encourage students who may be involved in shows at their school to audition with us too. We are also aware that some of these rehearsals conflict with our other classes and will plan to work around this. At the time of auditions you will be able to fill out a conflict sheet; conflicts with the rehearsal schedule do not preclude participation. Students cast in the plays may not be required to attend all rehearsals and may not be called the entire time. As always, tech week and performances are mandatory. Please reach out if you are unable to attend auditions so that we can make alternate arrangements. 7th and 8th graders are eligible to audition for both opportunities - Almost, Maine and Alice in Wonderland. Students who cannot audition but would like to volunteer backstage are encouraged to reach out to Director of Education Programming & Administration, Elissa Russell at
