Food Recovery Network Driver Application Form
UC San Diego Basic Needs Department is offering the unique opportunity for students to engage in campus and community food recovery to increase access to affordable food sources and support food security resources. The Food Recovery Network (FRN) is a service that supports the reduction of food waste and increases food security for students and community members in need. FRN recovers food that would have otherwise gone to waste from on- and off-campus food donors, such as the HDH Dining Halls, grocery stores, and community farmers’ markets, and distributes this recovered food to students and San Diego community members who are facing challenges with food security.

FRN Drivers will report to the Food Security Programs Coordinator and serve three main roles: recover food from UCSD and community partners, transport food following food safety protocols, and distribute recovered food through on campus distributions and community drop offs. FRN Drivers are required to learn and administer all services, policies, and procedures relevant to their duties within Student Affairs and Basic Needs initiatives. At all times, the FRN Drivers will be representing UCSD and Basic Needs as a community ambassador.

FRN Driver Compensation: $18.62/hr
Application Deadline: April 5th, 2024
Desired Start Date: September 16th, 2024 (with an opportunity to start work in Summer 2024)
