Pre-K Interest Form 2022-2023
Ortwein Elementary School is pleased to announce an opportunity for preschool children within our community, ages three and four.  Your child must turn three before the first day of the 2022-2023 school year (August 8).  If your child is five on or before August 8th , then your child is not eligible for the program and must enroll in kindergarten.  This unique experience will provide preschool instruction for the children, while being included in a learning environment with students, aged three and four with disabilities.  This opportunity will enable your child to receive valuable, age-appropriate instruction, as well provide students with disabilities interaction with age appropriate role models.

We are looking for children who have age appropriate language and behavior skills.  The children must be toilet trained and must demonstrate that they can be away from home and their parents for three hours without duress.  Parents will be required to transport their child to and from school. Consistent attendance is mandatory, including staying the duration of the school session, except in the cases of illness. All immunizations must be current.

The first day of school is Monday, August 8, 2022. The program is half day (9:00-11:30 and 12:30-3:00), Monday through Thursday.  We will have three Pre-K classes, each with one teacher and one assistant. Enrollment is limited in an attempt to maintain appropriate class size.  Four-year-old students zoned for our school will be given priority. Remaining students will be selected through a “lottery” system.  If you are interested in your child participating in this learning experience, please complete the form by May 2, 2022.   We will be contacting you via phone if you are selected. Please ensure you include a correct phone number. If your child is not selected, you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted as spaces become available throughout the year.

Thank you in advance for your interest. If you have concerns that your child does not display some of the characteristics described above as typical, please reach out to the Child Find Department at (702) 799-7463.

Please feel free to share this interest form with other families you know in our area that have children ages three and four.
