On the first Introduction Day, we will start off with some games to get to know each other and a dinner. Afterwards, we’ll have a lecture on Greenwashing by journalist Yara van Heugten, who works at the prestigious research group ‘Follow the Money’. The lecture description of this can be found below. Afterwards, we’ll all go for a pubcrawl in the city.

Lecture Description:

In an era marked by growing environmental consciousness, businesses are under pressure to align with eco-friendly values. However, some entities exploit this trend by employing greenwashing tactics. Through misleading advertisements, labels, or public statements, they portray an image of environmental responsibility without substantiating it with substantial actions.

Yara van Heugten is an investigative journalist at Follow the Money, where she investigates the truth of the green promises of large companies. She also worked at the Department for Sustainable Economic Development of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, being responsible for developing policy in innovation and circular economy. 

On the second Introduction Day we have a fun afternoon planned with plenty of games to get to know your fellow new SIB members and also some older SIB members. However the true showstopper is the bubble ball that we will be playing. So come prepared in some comfortable clothing since you will be moving around a lot. Bring your most competitive side and become champion with your team to win a fun prize!
