CPASB Member
The CPASB members are the principal planners and administrators of overall policy and finance. It is the legal entity responsible for the administration of CPA funds and General Service Virtual Office services.
Qualifications and Commitment
The CPASB is composed of CPA members and non-CPA members. CPA members must have completed the Twelve Steps and have a minimum of 2 years in CPA. It is preferable if they have held other service positions in CPA. Non-CPA members need to bring skills or knowledge that add to the effectiveness of the Board. They need to demonstrate interest in CPA; have talents in a field that will benefit CPA; a willingness to serve; faith in the CPA program of recovery; and a working knowledge of the Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of Service.
The commitment required is to attend the monthly meetings, participate on at least one of the CPASB sponsored committees, and bring the intention of serving the good of CPA fellowship into all their decision making.
Qualities of Trustees include tolerance, responsibility, flexibility and vision. Organizational skills are required for following through on assigned responsibilities. Even though there is acceptance of the unpredictability of health conditions some projects are time sensitive. It is expected that each member be open about their capabilities and share work whenever possible.
Description
The CPA Service Board is the guardian of the Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of Service applied to all aspects of running the 501(c)3 corporation. It meets monthly and is the legal entity responsible for the administration of CPA funds and services. It is composed of 5 to 15 volunteers, a minimum of three from the Fellowship and two from outside the Fellowship. There is always at least one more member than non-member.
The General Service Virtual Office (GSVO) is the related service arm to the CPASB. In managing the affairs of the corporation, the CPASB is authorized to maintain policies of the GSVO, control property and finances, make long range plans, authorize expenditures, appoint committees, take measures to carry out the will of the Fellowship as specified at the World Service Conference (WSC), and approves the agenda for the WSC.
The Board nominees are put forth by the Fellowship and then approved and elected by current CPASB members. Officers include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. A term of service of three years is suggested. The Board is composed of qualified members with an emphasis placed on strong leadership, cooperative relationships, and professional skills valuable for the strength of the Fellowship.
