Dear Parishioner,
You may have already heard through national and local media that Pope Francis has called a Synod of the whole Church. A synod is a large assembly that identifies and indicates precise pathways for the church to follow in the coming years. The Synod began last October and will culminate in Rome in 2023.
Pope Francis asks us as Christian Communities to reflect on how we are becoming a listening Church which walks together. His vision of Church is one that sees greater participation by everyone in all aspects of the life of the Church, including decision making.
The Parish of Clarecastle Ballyea are inviting you to be involved in the process. Pope Francis’ wish is that every effort be made to reach out to all. Whatever your commitment or non-commitment to the Church is at present, you are invited as a member of our community to take part in this process. We welcome and await your
response. We respectfully ask that responses to this invitation will be returned by March 17th.

1. Communion - How might we work to build a more inclusive “communion of people” or church?
2. Participation - How can we listen better to the different voices in our parish? Are there important voices in our community that are not heard? Who are these voices? How can we include them?
3. Mission - How can we as parish, work and do better as Church in our outreach to people? How can we unlock the joy of the Gospel and the message of Jesus Christ so that we may become a more energetic and engaged Church in our society?
4. Additional Comment - These questions are merely a guide to aid participation. Any other comment or matter you would like raise in the ongoing conversation about the future of our Church is welcome.
