The National Art Honors Society is designed for BVN students, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown outstanding ability in, and commitment and service to the visual arts. The NAHS also strives to aid members to work toward the attainment of high standards in the arts and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. Any student is welcome to participate in our activities, though membership is only granted once students have met the requirements listed below.
Directions to the Applicant: Applying to this organization indicates you will be a participating member of NAHS. There are several meetings as well as activities. There are 5 hours of ART-RELATED community service that are required in order to become a member. There are also 5 additional hours of ART-RELATED community service that are due post-induction in order to stay in good standing (10 total per year).
HOURS ARE DUE on Friday, November 19, 2021
This year's school-sponsored Community service activities include working on the Art History Quiz Bowl, the Art Department End-of-Semester Art Show, Mustang Masterpieces, and recycling clay in the ceramics room. You can also include any art-related community service you have completed during this school year. Some great places to contact include Scraps KC, the Nelson and Nerman Art Museums, and the KC Clay Guild. If this is understood, we welcome you to apply to this organization!
Membership requirements:
successful completion of three HS visual arts courses with avg 3.5 GPA or higher
maintain an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher
complete 5 hours of community service by 11/19/21
attendance at meetings and NAHS activities
$25 membership dues (this goes towards national fees and art supplies for our various activities)
three teacher recommendations (2 art teachers, 1 non-art teacher)
Current members are required to pay the annual $25 dues and complete 10 hours by the end of the school year to remain in good standing.
