Sunday September 3rd @ Bread & Puppet, Glover VTA Celebration of Printers, Printmaking and everything in between! This one day event is based off the traditional printers' holiday that marked the end of summer and the start of the season of working by candlelight. Later, the word came to refer to an annual outing and dinner for the staff of a printing works or the printers on a newspaper.
Graphic images chiseled into masonite and printed on cloth and paper have been an integral part of Bread & Puppet Theater’s shows since the very beginning in the early sixties. We want to celebrate the work of printers and the printshop with you! Come hang with us, share your work, talk shop and of course, print. We'll have a poster set up on the letterpress, carve some masonite to make a group print and likely do some screen printing as well. Part of the day will be a public, open house event. We will have tables available to display your art and sell some if you'd like. You're also welcome to bring any tools, carved blocks or materials you have to work with. We'll enjoy meals with the other puppeteers and B&P community, some music, perhaps a show and each others' company. You are welcome to come a day early to camp and to stay on Sunday night as well. There is no fee to attend, but we do ask for food donations and suggest $5-10 meal.
