Waste Not is an annual program that fosters equitable sustainability by improving access to low-cost items while reducing campus waste and supporting the community. Our team collects essential supplies every spring during move-out (May 18-27, 2024) and holds a fall tag sale (August 31 and September 1, 2024) for the community.
For the first time this year, Waste Not workers who are work-study eligible are able to be PAID for working Waste Not! To be paid for this role, you must have work study eligibility. If you do, please also apply for this role in Handshake: https://wesleyan.joinhandshake.com/edu/jobs/8834847/. All other applicants will be taken as volunteers.
Waste Not employees will receive free housing until Tuesday 5/28, breakfast and lunch provided on major move-out days, a free t-shirt, and the chance to get free Waste Not stuff.
Employees must attend a 1 hr training during the week of 5/13 and work approximately 20 hours between May 18-27, 2024; up to 6 Waste Not employees will have the option of working additional hours between May 28-31, 2024 to organize, sort, and move donations:
- Saturday 5/18: up to 8 hours
- Monday 5/20 - Sunday 5/26: 2-4 hours across the week
- Monday 5/27: up to 8 hours
- Tuesday 5/28 - Thursday 5/30 (up to 6 people): up to 10 hours
Please note that the completion of this form does not solidify your acceptance. You will receive a follow-up email if you are accepted!
Your role is vital in reducing waste, avoiding capitalistic consumption, providing affordable goods to other students, and supporting the community!
