UR and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) will co-present a conversation between two Virginia astronauts, Leland Melvin – a 1986 UR alum, Trustee Emeritus, and Richmond Athletics Hall of Fame football player – and Dr. Robert L. Satcher about the contributions of Black astronauts to human space flight and their time together aboard Space Shuttle Atlantis in 2009. Their talk corresponds with the VMHC’s Apollo: When We Went to the Moon exhibit. A book signing and reception will follow the program.
This special event will be held at the VMHC in Richmond’s Museum District. UR has secured a limited number of free tickets for students, staff, and faculty and will run a shuttle to and from the VMHC for members of our campus community in need of transportation. Please submit this form to secure your FREE ticket to the event and indicate if you will be in need of transportation. If you have any questions, contact Nicki Pugh at npugh@richmond.edu.
