The week of November 6th-10th, St. John Fisher University will be celebrating all first-gen students and alumni! SJF will be celebrating all first gen students, staff, and faculty with a variety of events tailored to celebrate you, the first gen students. You will have a chance to hear some of our community members talk about what their journey has meant to them as a first-gen college student. We will also have a variety of events and amazing speakers!
This is a week where we are celebrating the pride that comes with being the first in your family to celebrate.
The events for First Gen Week are:
November 6th: Speaker: Lydia X.Z. Brown: A Discussion About the Deep Interconnections Between Ableism and Other Forms of Systemic Discrimination, Marginalization, and Oppression - Sponsored by the Office of Student Accessibility Services and TRIO Student Support Services.
November 7th: Annual First Gen Celebration in the Basil Mid-Level Gateway
November 8th: Speaker: Richard Taylor: Taylormade Empowerment: Empowerment and Resilience
November 9th: Wear a T-shirt Celebrating First Gen Week! (Color will be announced soon)
November 10th: Paradigm Shift Workshop (Smaller event focusing on members of First Gen Scholars, HEOP, TRIO SSS, and CSTEP)
