This is a "test run" Community Yard Sale at the Riverwalk in Newland, NC. We would like to see how it goes & determine whether it should be a weekly/monthly event in the warmer months. However, we are taking this opportunity to maximize the "good" that can be done with this pilot event, and turning all proceeds over to "Destiny Finley" - a young lady from our community that is battling cancer in a huge way.
***Up to 50 participants will be permitted. We will use the area around the stage, as well as the pathway that wraps along the river, in both directions. You will have the opportunity to use as much space as needed in terms of depth, but please try to keep it under 15ft wide.
***The greatest concern I have is items being "left behind." If you bring it and it doesn't sell, take it back with you! There are a number of thrift stores in the area that would happily receive your donation. WE CANNOT LITTER THE RIVERWALK! Please do your part in making sure every single piece of trash/every single yard sale item is collected from the area no later than 1:30pm.
Who: Any community member fit for public activities is welcome to participate.You will need to pay the nominal fee of $10 to set up. Your $10 goes directly to Destiny Finley's cancer treatment expenses. The concept of charging a fee is to ensure quality yard sellers, and in return, you will be granted this opportunity with what we hope is a large turn out, and free advertisement for you!
What: There are specific items you CANNOT bring to this yard sale. Please read the list, and screenshot if necessary...
- NO firearms or weapons of any sort, including ammunition and knives/blades of any type.
- NO drugs, drug paraphernalia, prescription medication, controlled substances, or alcohol.
- NO "nasty/dirty/grungy" items. Please ensure your items are clean and still have a lot of life to give whomever purchases them!
- NO stolen items!
When: You are allowed to bring your possessions to the Riverwalk at 6am to set up. We are only providing the space and opportunity. If you need tables/a tent/blankets to lay things on, please bring those items yourself.
Where: The Riverwalk, in Newland, across from Family Dollar. Plug in 288 Calvary St. for an exact address.
How: How's it going to go? Not sure - but the location has become a hub in our community for lots of various events, so I am anticipating a good turn out! There will be signs at the road pointing for an "event today" - so between signage and word of mouth, I think we will be "visible" for sure.
