VP&S Resident-Student Mentorship Program
The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (ODMA) and the Equity and Justice Fellows at CUIMC are partnering to create a longitudinal resident-student mentorship program between NYP-Columbia residents and Columbia VP&S medical students.
This mentorship program will focus on connecting residents, fellows and medical students who identify from groups traditionally underrepresented and marginalized within medicine* to provide academic, professional and social support for students through a near-peer advising model.
This is the first mentorship program of its kind at VP&S, with hopes to provide compensation for your involvement, potentially including coverage of meals, workshops for developing skills as a mentor, and a way to list this on your CV to aid with application to future fellowships/positions.
Fill out this interest form to help us support medical students from under-represented backgrounds. If you fill this form out, we will try to connect you with a student who is interested in your specialty and is looking for a mentor!
* groups include but are not limited to: Black, Mexican-American, Native American (that is, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians), Puerto Rican, Asian American, First Generation and Low Income, LGBTQ.
