Consignment Deadline: Friday, May 15th (All paperwork must be RECEIVED by deadline. Post mark dates will not be accepted)

Requirements to consign:

  • Must provide at least 4 photos (front, back, both sides) & Video in YOUTUBE link

    • Grade Horses must provide photo of teeth

    • Legend Buttes Horse Sale offers photography/videography for a small fee. See below

  • Must fill out the consignment form completely

  • Must provide copy of front & back of registration papers (if applicable)

    • If the horse is not registered in consignors name, must provide a copy of the signed transfer

  • Must provide the non-refundable catalog fee

  • Must provide all above info by catalog deadline (May 15th) NO EXCEPTIONS

  • Must have current coggins (one year), health (30 days) & brand paperwork by sale day

    • Brand papers only apply to out-of-state horses. Please know your states laws

Media Package: $200- Sale company will travel up to 5 hrs to photograph & video horse for consignor (historically, professional marketing material resulted in higher price of horses by $2,046/horse) *must be scheduled at least 1 week in advance of deadline

-To feature your horse(s) in the catalog you must provide payment, paperwork and pictures by the catalog deadline or you will not be featured in the catalog.  Consignor may consign up to 5 horses. Only riding or driving horses will be accepted. Unstarted Prospects, Weanlings or broodmares will only be accepted on a case-by-case basis.  If they are riding horses, be prepared to ride them on sale day or they will not sell. There will be NO open or loose horse accepted. ALL horses must be consigned to the catalog to sell at CLM
 -All catalog horses must attend preview and be checked in by 8 a.m. on sale day. Crawford Livestock Market, LLC, act as agents only and are not responsible for buyer/seller error or misunderstanding. All guarantees pertaining to training, disposition ,ability, ect., are strictly between the buyer and seller. By consigning to the Legend Buttes Sale, the consignor agrees to clearly disclose all known soundness issues, maintenance issues as well as blemishes. Additionally they agree to honestly and accurately describe the horse(s) training and disposition. Legend Buttes Horse Sale, Crawford Livestock Sale Management or employees such as the auctioneer,  do not assume any liability for information that was incorrectly provided to them by the Seller. All guarantees are strictly between Buyers and Sellers. Any seller who does not accurately disclose all known information regarding their horse will be required to be pre-approved to consign, or in serious cases, will not be allowed to consign for an indefinite period of time 
-ALL Catalog horses (in or out of state) must have current Coggins (1 year) and Health(30 days). ALL out-of-state horses MUST have current Coggins, Health and brand inspection. Vet will be on-site for sale day to assess general health of horses.
- The commission will be 8% of the selling price, or the minimum ($100), whichever is greater, on all catalog horses. Catalog horses will be charged a non-refundable Catalog fee, due at consignment. Should the consignor not submit the $125 or $200 at time of consignment, they will NOT be published, advertised or sold.
-Consignor has the privilege to no-sale their horse. If the seller no-sales, the cost will be 8% commission on the final accepted bid.
-If the consignor wants to sell the horse as REGISTERED, they must supply a copy of the registration paper (front and back) and copy of the transfer at time of consignment AND original papers with signed transfer on sale day or horse will be considered GRADE and sold as such. Horses will be sold as registered only if papers and transfers are furnished to CLM before the Sale. 
-CONSIGNOR AGREES TO NOT PRIVATELY SELL OR WITHDRAW CONSIGNED HORSE TO SALE unless injured/sick with vet release. The consignment fee is nonrefundable. Should the horse become sick or injured before the catalog is published, a vet release will allow the horse to be withdrawn without jeopardizing the consignors ability to consign to future sales. There will be no catalog fee refunds. There will be zero substitutes of horses for any reason. ALLEY/PARKING LOT TRADING IS FORBIDDEN.
-Out of State horses will be required to have a brand inspection or they can’t be unloaded off the trailer. Nebraska is not a brand inspection state, you must abide by your state’s brand inspection requirements. South Dakota: Horses from South Dakota must have a Brand Inspection (Form A). Call (877-574-0054). Wyoming: Horses from Wyoming must have a brand inspection (Form A). Horses leaving the state will be supplied with a purchase sheet, health & Coggins, and Registration papers (if applicable).
-Crawford Livestock Market Soundness Guarantee applies to all catalog horses. Special exceptions for defects or existing conditions as otherwise expressly stated herein.
 LIABILITY: Buyers, sellers, and spectators are cautioned to exercise care while attending the sale and enter premises at their own risk. Under Nebraska Law, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities, pursuant to sections 25-21, 249, to 25-21, 253. CLM is not liable for accident or injury while on CLM property or during the preview at the Old West Trail Fairgrounds or Crawford City Park. Crawford Livestock Market, LLC., the Committee: its principals, officers, agents, employees and volunteers, and each and every landowner, municipal and/or government agency upon whose property this activity is conducted shall not be liable for injuries sustained by anyone attending the Horse Sale at Crawford Livestock LLC or the Preview at the Old West Trail Fairgrounds. You are attending an equine event at your own risk. 
SOUNDNESS GUARANTEE: “Honest People, Selling Honest Horses”. CLM considers sound as: “Sound of eyes and air. Hits the ground sound on all four.”, unless otherwise stated. If a horse arrives unsound, Vets and CL.M Horse Representatives have the right to refuse service to consignors. At Crawford Livestock Legend Buttes Horse Sales, all catalog horses that are ridden through the ring, and sell as a result of being ridden through the ring, are GUARANTEED SOUND until Monday Noon following the Sale unless otherwise stated from the block or if unsoundness is due to buyer or their haulers negligence. NO EXCEPTIONS. All checks will be held to solidify this policy. If a buyer considers their horse to be unsound, Horse must be hauled to CLM vets at Cheyenne River Animal Hospital in Edgemont, SD, at buyers expense. They are the only vets who can make soundness decisions to obtain funds

Videos and additional photos are welcome and encouraged, our online catalog can feature an unlimited amount of photos videos. GRADE HORSES MUST HAVE PHOTO OF TEETH. Please include at least one photo without a saddle and a photo of the front legs and rear legs. By consigning your horse, you consent to allowing CLM and its affiliates to use your information, photos and videos for all current and future marketing. Our sales are advertised extensively, and buyers travel from multiple states to purchase horses. Whether you choose to use Legend Buttes for your marketing or not, historically, horses with professional marketing material bring $2,046 MORE than horses without professional photos/videos. It is well worth the effort and money to have excellent photos and videos. All consignments must go through the sale ring. Alley and Parking Lot Trading is forbidden. This is a contract. You are consigning your horse to sell at the CLM LEGEND BUTTES HORSE SALE. Horses are advertised and expected to sell AT THE HORSE SALE. COVID-19: Due to the potentially on-going pandemic, all precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of our facilities. Many buyers will be purchasing online. PLEASE provide ample photos and videos. Photos of the legs, front, rear and side are encouraged.  Videos that are important include: walk, trot, lope, stop and turn. Roping, dragging a log, crossing water, kids riding, barrel racing ect, are all good things to document if that’s what your horse does. A video of them being saddled and picking up feet is good to have too. If you have any questions or concerns, PLEASE call. The Legend Buttes Staff wants to assist in selling your horse to the highest bidder, but we need to provide those bidders with material to view. We WILL have a public preview that will be broadcast live, online.

Thursday June 15th 6:00 PM -Team Roping/Breakaway/Tie Down Roping Preview

  • Warm up: 8am-9am - ALL HORSES

  • National Anthem/Official Preview starts: 9am-Broadcast on Facebook LIVE ~ Crawford Livestock Market

  • Trail Horse: 9-9:30am preview (Logs to walk over, gate, tire to drag, ect)

    • Pattern provided. Horses will work in random draw order.

  • Barrels/Poles: Immediately following trail. 1 walk/trot through & 1 rodeo run per horse 

  • Reining: 9:30-10am 

    • Pattern provided (circles, lead changes, stops, spins). Horses will work in Random Draw order.

  • Cowhorse: 10-11am Pattern & Flag/Cattle

    • Pattern provided. Consignor will complete the reining pattern & work the flag OR call for a steer to work or rope. Horses will work in random draw order. 

  • Roping Prospect: 11-11:30am Rope horse prospect preview (Roping the hot heels) All roping prospect horses may be in the arena taking turns heading or heeling the hot heels.

  • Rope Horse: 11:30-12 am Breakaway, Tie Down and Team Roping

    • Consignors can pick their partners in the team roping. Each horse will be allowed to run twice

      • Note: an extensive roping preview will be held on Thursday night before the sale. Roping horses are encouraged to check in the night before.

  • Ranch Horse: 12-1:30 pm (Ranch Roping Team) 

    • Consignors will be in teams of 4-6. 2 steers and 1 cow will be in the arena and the consignors can ranch rope, tie down, team rope or sort on the animals similar to a ranch rodeo. Teams will be in random draw and assigned unless the consignor knows who they want to work with. 

  • Preview concludes 1:30pm -all horses go back to the salebarn to prepare for the sale which begins at 2pm and horses will sell in catalog order
