2024 SJQMA Membership Application

SJQMA is a member-owned Non-Profit Organization sanctioned by the United States Auto Club (USAC25). Members are required to submit a written application to SJQMA to become a member of SJQMA and obtain a license from USAC25 to race at USAC local, regional and national events. All members are required to participate in club maintenance, operation and fundraising activities.

This is a family-oriented club and can only operate with the participation, support and assistance of the members.  

*All items below are subject to review and revision by the Board and our Club Members.*  

**All new members must submit an application for review and Club approval.  No payment is required of new members until they are notified of acceptance into the Club.**

1.  SJQMA Application

a. Annual SJQMA fees for a single-family membership are $250.00.  An amount of $100.00 will be designated to our annual gift card tree fundraiser. You will receive tickets to sell chances to win the gift tree and reimburse your funds.

b. SJQMA is offering a buyout option for existing members only of $200.00 to for go your tower duties.  Those funds will be held in escrow and payment will be issued to those individuals that schedule to work unassigned tower duties throughout the year.  For each tower duty successfully completed by a volunteer, a payment of $50.00 will be issued to them from escrow.  Please note, this pertains to tower duties only.  It does not and will not be applied to other weekly duties and committees.  In addition, depending on the number of members that choose the buyout option, we may not be able to accommodate everyone's request.  

The full membership fee is due by March 31st, 2024. Existing members who do not provide their full membership payment by March 31st, 2024, will be subject to a late fee in the amount of $50.00 ($300.00 total). Any new members, who are not rookies, but are current or previous members of USAC that ask to join the Club once opening track duties have begun for the season, will be subject to a late fee in the amount of $100.00 ($350.00 total).  All membership applications must be completed followed by a payment.

The application consists of the following:

  1. SJQMA Application Form
  2. Check for membership fees (Does not apply to new-members until accepted to the Club)
  3. Original signed Release Forms
  4. Original signed driver publicity release form
  5. Zero tolerance form
  6. Committee Sign Up Form (You may choose your committee preferences when you submit your application)
  7. Proof of USAC license (if applicable)

General information: I. Single Family Membership is available to Parent(s), Driver(s), and all siblings under the age of 18. Children under the age of 5 can be listed but cannot enter the pit area.
II. Committee choices will be filled on a first come-first serve basis. If Committee choices are not selected, they will be assigned. III. All members are required to comply with the By-Laws, including all requirements for membership, work and financial obligations.   IV. Alternate Handlers must be authorized by a USAC25 License. V. Rookie Members will be required to attend Rookie School, which will begin in March and normally runs 5 consecutive weekends.

*** Please remember to read the USAC rule book and SJQMA Bylaws thoroughly before the beginning of the racing season*** Please be aware of the below portion of the SJQMA by-laws (a complete printed copy can be furnished upon request):

  • If your week gets rained out, you need to pick up another week. If not chosen, another week will be assigned by the board members. 
  • If a member does not attend the scheduled work detail date, the member must pay a fine to the Club. The fine must be paid to maintain the membership in good standing. (See Section XXII –Fine Schedule)  
  • The penalty to a family for not performing their race night/track & tower details is a suspension from participation in racing activities for one night and a fine payable prior to reinstatement. (See Section XXII-Fine Schedule)
  • If the Member in Good Standing obligations have not been met the member is responsible for paying $100.00 per child for their banquet gifts and all outstanding fines.

Members in Good Standing.  A ‘Member in Good Standing’ is defined as a member who has attended no less than six (6) of the total annual meetings, at least one (1) per quarter and attended/raced 8 races and whose financial obligations, as well as work details are current and paid in full. In the event that there may be extenuating circumstances, this should be brought immediately to the attention of the Board of Directors within one (1) month.

Fine Schedule

A fine schedule has been established to collect for unfulfilled track duties (opening/closing) and weekly tower and track duties (without substitution notice) and will be as follows:

Failure to perform Opening Track duty $50.00

Failure to perform Closing Track duty $50.00

Failure to perform weekly tower/track duty $75 each
