ASU–Berkeley Lab STEM Pathways (ABSP) Program Application: Summer 2024 term
Deadline to apply: February 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM MST.

A partnership between Arizona State University (ASU) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) was established to create the ASU–Berkeley Lab STEM Pathways (ABSP) Program. A goal of the ABSP Program is to create opportunities for American Indian students interested in pursuing graduate-level studies and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Current undergraduates enrolled at ASU are invited to submit this application for an opportunity to complete a Summer 2024 internship at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) through the ABSP Program.
Applications are due February 20, 2024.

During the summer internship, participants will:

  • receive funding support to cover travel, stipend, housing costs, and other materials.
  • work with scientists, engineers, technicians, and/or STEM professionals on projects related to the Lab's research program.
  • work on-site at LBNL in Berkeley, California during the summer term.
  • work full-time 40 hrs/week.
  • have access to a cohort of peers from across the U.S.
  • write a research paper with their Mentor Group.
  • present at a poster session during the final week of the program. 

After the summer internship, participants will:

  • have the opportunity to attend a major research conference (funding provided).
  • receive support on future applications and transitions to PhD programs in their chosen STEM field of study.

Step 1) Write your application essays! Review this document for information about the essays you will write and submit for the ABSP Program, and draft them up before completing this form. 

Step 2) Complete this Google Form (application to the ABSP Program).
