Survey: Virtual Machine Use for Fall 2021
Hi all,
As most of you know, last year I had virtual machines (VMs) available for students who had Chromebooks (or any computer) to be able to run Autodesk, Adobe, and PLTW software from home. We are able to offer these VM's for free again for Fall 2021 (and hopefully for Spring). You might want this for a couple of reasons.

1) Some of your students will choose to remain as remote students and so won't have access to your school computers.
2) Some students will want to access the software outside of school hours but only have a Chromebook (or other underpowered computer) at home. This is an equity issue, since it will allow these students to access the same software as other students.

I will again make both the AWS and Netlab VM platforms available, although since most people preferred AWS, I will focus my efforts on that.

Please fill out the survey below to help me plan. Email me (or put a comment in the survey) if you have questions.

Thanks,

NOTE: I will be updating the AWS link to the VM's in the next couple of weeks, so your IT person will need to make a (simple) change. More details once I get all the software updated.

If you didn't use the VM's last year, instructions on how to get setup are at:

How many of your students do you think will use the Virtual Machines in Fall 2021?
Note: This includes both the remote students using it during school hours, and those students with Chromebooks who might want to access the SW after school hours.
In Fall 2021, what % of your students do you think will be taking your classes remotely?
The reason I'm asking is that one of the limitations of Netlab is the number of students that can be on them at the same time (AWS has unlimited capacity, so we're not concerned with it). So I need to estimate how many students might be trying to access the Netlab VM's during school hours.
ACCESS from SCHOOL: Are you wanting to have your students access the VM's while they're at school (vs. using the computers in your labs)?
We have limited funding, so if you are planning on doing this, please reach out to us to discuss. Thanks.
