The Restatement of Medical Liability Law: What’s Old, and What’s New

The American Law Institute has undertaken for the first time a Restatement on medical liability law.  As the lead “Reporter” for the project, Prof. Hall will discuss the project’s scope and coverage, highlighting innovative issues that the Restatement addresses, as well those it is not able to directly tackle.

Mark Hall, JD, is a Senior Consortium Scholar & Visiting Professor of Law at UC Law SF and Professor of Law and Public Health at Wake Forest University. He currently teaches in the joint UCSF-UC Law SF Master of Science in Health Policy & Law program. One of the nation’s leading scholars in health care law and public policy, he is the author or editor of twenty books and a member of the National Academy of Medicine. Currently, he is the lead Reporter with the American Law Institute for its Restatement work on Medical Liability.  Prof. Hall publishes regularly in leading journals of law, medicine, and health policy, and his articles have been reprinted in a dozen casebooks and anthologies. He regularly consults with government officials, foundations and think tanks about health care public policy issues.
