The goal of this Tutor Training Module is to give you a broad overview of the expectations, policies, and procedures discussed in the Tutor Training Handbook. Please review the handbook then answer the questions bellowing using complete sentences. You may use extra paper if needed.
Please note: In order to receive a full hour of pay for a tutee absence, you must remain in the tutoring room completing this assignment for the hour during the tutee absence. IF YOU LEAVE EARLY, YOU MUST ADJUST YOUR TIME on your time sheet.

The AATC has a high standard of quality for our tutors and intelligence is not always indicative of such quality.  Of the characteristics of good tutors listed, which ones do you possess? Which characteristics could you improve upon and how would you go about such improvement? *

Scenario: a MAT 21 tutor works 4 hours on Monday in the AATC drop-in rooms, 3 hours on both Tuesday and Wednesday in the Cuarto residence halls, and has one individual tutoring assignment for MAT 21C. *
The AATC has received thousands of evaluations that show tutors that prep for their tutoring sessions have higher tutee satisfaction levels compared to tutors who don't prep. What do you currently do to prep? What additional steps can you take to make your prep more effective? *

The ten-minute rule allows tutors time to get to and from class.  However, it should only be used by tutors who actually have class immediately before or immediately after tutoring.  For the following scenario, please indicate the start time for the tutoring appointment and give a brief explanation of your answer.  Scenario: John, a PHY 9 tutor, is coming from class and his tutoring assignment is scheduled to be from 10am-12pm. *

How long do you wait for a tutee to show up for individual tutoring before you have to record an absence? What are your choices if a tutee is absent from a tutoring session? *
You find yourself missing a tutoring session because you were not at your bus stop when the bus arrived. Is this an excused or an unexcused absence? How many of this type of absence are you allowed per quarter? *
The majority of our individual tutees come from ICA and there will be absences due to games or game-related travel. Summarize the process of rescheduling the missed tutoring appointment. *
