Funded through a Department of Education Asian American and Native American Pacific Islanders (AANAPI) grant, Responsive Education for Access, Community, and Hope (REACH) is offering an online learning community course for faculty teaching general education courses. REACH is focused on creating social justice and equity-minded curriculum on financial literacy.
The format is primarily asynchronous. In this online course, participants will explore the following:
1) Reflect and develop understanding of first-generation, students of color community and cultural wealth
2) Apply community responsive practices in creating supportive, engaging educational curriculum focused on equity, social justice and critical financial literacy
3) Understand the importance of financial literacy for student success
4) Review the online student portals and locate resources that can best assist students with financial literacy and success
Faculty participants will receive $1000 for completing the course. The course is expected to take approximately 20 hours to complete. The faculty learning community will run from August 9 to December 9, 2022. Synchronous meetings will take place on Tuesday August 9th and Wednesday August 10th from 10am-12 noon.
