Join us for our first-ever, "Cheese Chat"

On Thursday, May 2nd, join local cheesemaker Benita Kasbo for a discussion focusing on Middle Eastern cheese and her old-world recipe for Jibneh, Syrian cheese.

She will review the history of her product, her cheesemaking process, and the unique ingredient, called mahleb, that adds nuttiness and floral notes.

She will also be sharing traditional pairing ideas and samples will be available to enjoy.

Meet Your Host

Benita Kasbo always dreamed of taking the delicious foods and flavors of her childhood and making them available for everyone to enjoy. For years she had been making cheese in her kitchen. After many blocks of cheese and samples given away to friends and friends of friends to taste, the time had come for her to make it available to you. But not just any cheese, Syrian cheese, or “Jibneh” for those in the know. Benita's mission is to bring authentic Middle Eastern flavors and foods to your table.

"I came to the U.S. with my family as a toddler from Aleppo, Syria. I'm a proud Syrian American and I’m very excited to share my favorite traditional Middle Eastern staples with you." - Benita Kasbo, Owner
