I'm looking to get some insight into what people want to see in a UI. I will try to keep this as generic as I can, but some things may not apply to all games. Also, while I did include a rock bottom for how important a UI is, most of this poll presumes you're interested in a UI, since I'm not looking to make UIs for people who don't want any UI at all. That would be silly.

Firstly, how important is a UI to you in general? *

Not important at all, would honestly rather there not be one

How important are gauges for vitals/resources? *

Not important at all

As long as it works

Form is all, UI is meaningless if is not pretty and consistent

How much of your window space are you willing to give to the UI, rather than the main game output? *

None or very little

As much as it needs, up to replacing the game output altogether

Which of the following UI layouts do you like? Select all which apply. Pictures are crude mockups not necessarily indicative of what would be in the space. I used Mudlet but it's not about the client.

2 columns (vertical split), with UI elements on one side and main window output on the other

2 rows (horizontal split), with UI elements on one side and main window output on the other

3 columns, with main window output in the center and UI elements either side

Main window output framed top, bottom, left, and right by UI elements

Left, Right, and Bottom UI elements around a central main window output

CHAOS! widgets haphazardly spread all across the screen!
