InstrumentMentoring.com is offering free online instrument mentoring to Wake County middle school students currently enrolled in a public-school band program. Through the use of Zoom, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, and/or Skype, young musicians will be coached, on a one-on-one level, by high school band students of All-District level playing ability.
This independent program is a response to the current crisis and is being piloted in Wake County by Millbrook High School student Trevor Petzold. The goal is to provide a resource for young musicians, allowing them to make forward progress during this time of uncertainty.
Students interested in offering free mentoring should sign up below. From the data received, every attempt will be made to match qualified high school musicians with young musicians. Sessions will be scheduled for 15 minutes each. Through this program, young musicians can get help with classroom band playing assignments, scales, and technique. High school mentors can use this service as volunteer hours.
