WHAT DO THE WORDS "MADRICH", "MADRICHA" & "MADRICHIM" MEAN?
Madrich and madricha literally means “guide”.  Madrich is the masculine form and madricha is the feminine form.  Madrichim is plural.  In our context, a madrichim is a teen leader and role model.

WHAT WILL I DO?
You will have the opportunity to work with students in grades K-7 in our education program, supporting them and the teachers.  You will help implement lesson plans and games, read stories, work with kids who need extra support, and help us a create a Jewish community of learners filled with ruach (spirit!)

WHAT'S THE COMMITMENT AND SCHEDULE?
You can choose to be a madrich or madricha during any of these times:
·   Sundays 9-12pm
·   Tuesdays 4-6pm
·   Wednesdays 4-6pm

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any teens in grades 8-12.  Seventh graders who attend a Jewish Day School are also welcome to apply!

DOES THE PROGRAM COST?
The cost of the program is $500.  Financial aid is available; please speak with Robin or Rabbi Liben if you need financial support.  The cost of the program covers things like paying the Madrichim Coordinator, snacks and special programs.

WILL I GET PAID?
At the end of the year if you participate fully (90% attendance or better) you will have the choice of receiving a stipend or community service hours.  8th and 9th graders will receive a stipend of $180, 10th and 11th graders a stipend of $225 and 12th graders a stipend of $250.  If you have a Passport to Israel account we encourage you to put the stipend in that account.

I understand that being an educator requires ongoing learning and as such all madrichim are expected to attend trainings and/or meet with the madrichim coordinator on a bi-weekly basis.  Trainings and meetings will most often be scheduled during the time you sign up to be a madrich or madricha. *
All madrichim are expected to regularly communicate with the madrichim coordinator. This means initiating and responding. What is your preferred method of communication? *
