Guess that Author 2022
We are getting a head start on Author Day by playing a school wide game of "Guess that Author"!  A clue will be given each day this week about a children's author.  All 5 clues are about the same children's author.  Read the clue/s about the children's author, and submit your guess.  You  may only submit one guess a day.  Revisit the form each day to read the new clue and submit your guess.  The first student at every grade level to guess correctly will receive a prize!  Good luck!

Clues:
Clue #1:  This year’s visiting author didn’t always dream of becoming a writer.  Surprised?  They wanted to be an illustrator growing up.  This author as a child was the family artist and storyteller to their younger siblings.   Later in life, they used this talent to not only write but illustrated and published more than 200 drawings and cartoons in various magazines and newspapers.

Clue #2:  "Don't Think! Just Write!"  Can you believe this year’s visiting author lives by this motto but NEVER thought they would become an author!  They graduated from college with a degree in economics and education with licenses to teach Math and History. With this degree, the author taught Math in New York City schools for nine years before changing paths!

Clue # 3:  With more than 200 books published, this award winning author was honored with the Theodore Geisel Award in 2016 for their first book in a new young early readers series about a little boy with a big passion for sports.  And while this book character may not be the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest player, it doesn’t let it stop him from playing!  What a way to RISE UP!

Clue #4: In addition to fictional series, this year’s visiting author has also written nonfiction titles on science, history, math, holidays, and a well known picture book biography series - bringing historical figures to life.   The widely read picture book biography series, A Picture Of, covers the life chronicles of sports icons (Lou Gehrig and Jackie Robinson), U.S. Presidents (George Washington and Abraham Lincoln), political activists (Benjamin Franklin and Martin Luther King, Jr.), and other important individuals!

Clue #5:"Blink your eyes and say click!" This visiting author has captured millions of readers with a famous heroine (detective / main character ) with a photographic memory!  Can you guess who?
