Abstract: An infinite projected entangled-pair state
(iPEPS) is a tensor network ansatz to represent 2D wave functions directly in
the thermodynamic limit, which in the past decade has become a powerful tool
for the study of strongly correlated systems. In this talk I give an overview
of recent developments beyond the usual 2D ground state calculations, including
simulations at finite temperature, low-energy excitations, and extensions to 3D
and layered systems. I will show how these tools helped us to understand the
rich and intriguing physics of the quantum material SrCu2(BO3)2 under pressure
and in a magnetic field, which is effectively described by the
Shastry-Sutherland model.
