About SAU Concurrent Courses

The Concurrent Enrollment Program is designed to give high school students an opportunity to enroll at SAU prior to high school graduation. Through this program, high school juniors and seniors may enroll in University courses.

Our focus is in providing students with rigorous academic courses, taught by highly qualified instructors, all in the familiar high school environment. Most of the classes offered are from the general education core applicable to any degree a student chooses upon entering a college or university. Credits are transferable to most other accredited colleges and universities in Arkansas.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Complete admissions application
  • Must be in academic good standing
  • ACT score of 19 in Reading or comparable score on Accuplacer for all courses
  • ACT score of 19 in Core Subject or comparable score on Accuplacer (19 in Math for Math Courses, 19 in English for Composition)
Concurrent Program Mission

SAU supports the idea that exceptional high school students should be given the opportunity to advance their academic careers. The SAU Concurrent Program is a partnership between the university and high schools to offer qualified students the opportunity to both satisfy both high school and university credit requirements through specific concurrent courses.

Accreditation

The SAU concurrent program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnership (NACEP). NACEP accreditation is an international symbol of quality, excellence, and rigor.

Cost
Students are eligible to receive up to two courses paid for by the Arkansas Concurrent Scholarship.  Any amount of courses past the two that are covered for that scholarship will be charged at a reduced rate of tuition for $125 per course (this is a 90% reduction in tuition and a huge savings for the student).

Students Must:
  • Be a High School Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Have a student success plan on file (homeschool parents can verify this through an email to concurrent@saumag.edu).
  • Meet all requirements for continuation of the scholarship to continue after their first semester
For the Challenge scholarship, students may enroll in the following:
Sophomore Year: 2 courses in the fall, 2 in the spring
Junior year: 2 courses in the fall, 2 in the spring
Senior year: 2 courses in the fall, 2 in the spring
Students can be enrolled in additional courses beyond the two each semester for a rate of $125/course.
