The Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC) is opening an affordable studio space for local emerging artists in Downtown Salinas. www.arts4mc.org
"Artworks @Salinas" is similar to a "co-working" space, which encourages collaboration and community, and fills the need for affordable studio space for Monterey County artists.
These open studios (not enclosed/private), ranging from $200 to $450/month depending on size. Term: month-to-month lease.
We currently have six studio spaces available now, and rent includes utilities, wifi and marketing.
Artworks will participate in the monthly First Friday event from 5-8pm, with the expectation that all artists will attend.
Artworks will be open to the public from Thursdays- Sundays (10am-2pm). Additional hours may be added depending on the studio's development.

Please note the following sublease terms before applying — Art Mediums: Must be minimal impact.
o Ideal for: Acrylic paint, water-based oil paint, watercolor paint, drawing, assemblage,
pen & ink, and digital media.
o The residency will strive to follow industry best practices wherever and whenever possible with the goal of ZERO impact on tenants and the environment, including
▪ No toxic paint thinners, no photo fixatives, no resin, no fire, no encaustic, no aerosol.
▪ No heavy power tools (chainsaws, band saw, table saw, drill press, etc.) due to noise and dust. Hand woodworking and hand metal working would require submission of a particulate and debris control plan. Dremel rotary tools are acceptable. An approved tool list will be required on all leases.
