REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO BECOME THE EIT FOOD RIS FELLOWSHIPS Activity Line HOSTING INSTITUTION FOR INTERNS IN 2024

We invite all companies, start-ups, research institutes and universities whose activity is related to the agri-food sector or having departments related to work for the food industry, who would like to host Master of Science students and graduates and/or Ph.D. students and post-docs researchers, who would have an opportunity to participate in a 3-6 months unique professional internship within the framework of the EIT Food RIS Fellowships Activity Line. We assure important outreach to different academic institutions from EIT RIS countries, attracting best students and graduates to the food industry and presenting challenges and opportunities of the agri-food sector. 

OUR GOAL

We invite you to submit your proposal and take part in the EIT Food RIS Fellowships Activity Line in 2024 (also: the “Program”, EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL). We will be looking for talented Msc students and graduates (RIS Fellowships program) as well as Ph.D. students and researchers (RIS Talents program) from the top universities among RIS countries (Regional Innovation Scheme), specializing in different areas of food and offer them 3-6 months internships. The RIS Fellowships Activity Line targets candidates from all EIT RIS countries. RIS Fellowships interns will apply academic knowledge in practical real problematic situations of the hosting institution, as well as have an opportunity to develop their competences and job-related skills, while RIS Talents doctoral students and young post-docs will participate in innovative projects, Horizon Europe projects or R&D projects carried out by hosting institution. Participants will gain the job-related insight into the food sector, will be able to identify its challenges and will set their minds to answer them.

INTERNS: WHO ARE THEY?

EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL is looking for students, graduates - from higher education as well as doctoral students and young post-docs, who will become future food sectors’ enthusiasts or will set up their own businesses. Young passionate people upon the return to their homes RIS countries, will spur a wave of entrepreneurial innovations and support the development of the local agri-food ecosystem.

EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL is divided into complementary programs:

  • RIS Fellowships program is dedicated to MSc students, graduates and young entrepreneurs from EIT RIS countries. They will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in practice to spur a weave of entrepreneurial innovations in their home countries. They will have an opportunity to gain new job-related skills and develop competences. RIS Fellowships interns will be engaged in learning-by-doing activities (internal projects and tasks) carried out by each host company.

  • RIS Talents program is dedicated to doctoral students and young postdocs. They will benefit from lessons learned in their own academic research and will also be encouraged to engage in industrial projects. RIS Talents interns will participate in innovation projects, Horizon Europe projects or R&D projects by becoming involved in dedicated internships in the hosting organizations. 


FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR INTERNS

Interns will obtain a monthly scholarship - a financial support depending on the mode of their internships. 

EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL offers 3 possible internship modes:

1) stationary

2) on-line

3) hybrid (stationary & on-line). 

 A financial support will be provided:

1) In case of stationary mode of internship -  to cover travel and accommodation expenses;

2) In case of on-line internship - to customize the internship workplace at their homes using all what is needed to use electronic means of communication during remote.

Due to the fact that the costs in each mode are different, EIT Food RIS Fellowships AL offers the following division of financial support:  

Fellowships (Master students):

1. Stationary mode – 1500,00 EUR per month 

2. On-line  - 800,00 EUR per month

Talents (Doctoral students):

1. Stationary mode – 2000,00 EUR per month 

2. On-line mode - 950,00 EUR per month

In Hybrid mode, financial support would be given pro rata according to the time spent on each form of internship. We allow the possibility of changing the internship mode during the month but only weekly (change only on Mondays). In this case, the costs will be calculated accordingly (part of the month in online mode, the rest in stationary mode).

The financial support will be paid in monthly installments after signing the consent form and monthly reports signed and provided by host organization’s mentor. The financial support might be a subject of taxation depending on the legal requirements applying to the sides of the grant agreements.


PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

Institution who would like to become host organization need to demonstrate if its activity is related to the agri-food sector or having departments related to work for the food industry, in particular linked to one of the 6 EIT Food focus areas including: protein diversification, circular food systems, digital traceability, sustainable agriculture, sustainable aquaculture and targeted nutrition.

Host organisation will be presented with a short list of applicants and will contribute to Programme development with one time FEE for matchmaking.

APPLICATIONS TO THE EIT FOOD RIS FELLOWSHIPS AL

University of Warsaw as a lead partner of the EIT Food RIS Fellowships Action Line invites European companies, start-ups, research institutes and universities to submit their proposals to become the host organizations. Interested entities are invited to submit their applications using the "Request for host organizations EIT Food RIS Fellowships 2024"
