Ham License Exam Information
Exam sessions are conducted by volunteers working under the direction of the FCC and a Volunteer Exam Coordinator (VEC). The exam fee is set by the VEC and is currently $15.00. Please bring exact amount if paying with cash. If you are paying by personal check, please make your check payable to: ARRL - VEC, or leave payable blank and it can be filled out at your exam session. Contact the Exam Session Administrator to verify any documents required and to be verify during the exam session. Contact information is at the top of this registration form.
What to Bring to an Exam Session:
1. One legal photo ID (identification):
a. State Driver’s License
b. Government issued Passport
c. Military or Law Enforcement Officer Photo ID card
d. Student School Photo ID card
e. State Photo ID card
2. Your FCC issued Federal Registration Number (FRN); VEC’s are required by the FCC to submit your FRN number with your license application form. For instructions on how to register your SSN with the FCC and receive a FRN, use the contact number on the top of this page. Check with your local exam team before exam day.
3. If you are upgrading your Technician license to a General or Extra Class, you must bring a printed copy of your license.
4. Bring a personal check or cash to cover the exam session fee(s). $ 15.00 per person, checks payable to: ARRL - VEC
