The GPA Grantmaker of the Year (formerly GPA Pioneer Award) recognizes public and private grantmaking organizations that have improved the way grant professionals do their work and acknowledges outstanding contributions to the field of grantsmanship.

Two awards are given annually — a public sector award (federal, state, or local government) and a private sector award (corporate or foundation).

GPA Grantmaker of the Year honorees will receive recognition for their organization's contribution to the grantmaking field. Recipients are announced and awards are presented at GPA’s 2019 Annual Conference taking place November 7 in Washington, DC at the Washington Hilton. Promotion of the award recipients will occur before and after the conference in various online and electronic media outlets (GPA website, Grant News e-newsletter, social media, advertisements, and a press release). A travel stipend is available to help recipients accept the award in person. All nominators who submit an application form by the deadline will be entered to win a GPA membership, a value of $220.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All nominations are evaluated and scored by a panel of GPA members experienced in both grant writing and the grantmaking process. Agencies profiled in the top-scoring applications this year will also participate in an "virtual site visit" from review committee members. Please consider the following:

• Nominees can be a corporate, family, community or private foundation or a government agency in good standing that makes grant awards.

• The amount of money the grantmaking organization distributes is NOT considered in the selection process.
