Realizing the UNEP theme for World Environment Day 2020  'Celebrating Biodiversity', the Department of Botany celebrates the  World Environment Day 2020 on 5th June, 2020 by conducting an online Quiz  in order to create awareness on "Environment and Biodiversity".

Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College often called as NGM College is located very much near the western ghats in Pollachi Taluk of Coimbatore District, Tamilnadu, India. NGM College is a pioneering institution in this part of the country in imparting quality education and research since 1957.  The Department of Botany appreciates Western Ghat Biodiversity in almost all aspects of academics and research in obtaining wisdom from nature. The infrastructure and the expertise available in the department convert lead to conduct both part time and full time M.Phil., and Ph.D., research programmes. The Department is a recognized research Center of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, to carry out interdisciplinary research in both fundamental and applied fields of Botany.
