To reflect the female-focused nature of our work we are only accepting applications from female candidates for frontline positions. We have no plans to recruit male candidates for frontline safeguarding activities.

Oxford City Angels are a voluntary run female-focused safeguarding service working in partnership with Thames Valley Police, Oxford City Council and Oxford Nightsafe during the night-time economy. Our primary and priority function is to ensure the safety and security of women and girls. We deliver this through proactive patrols and engagement on Saturday night and Sunday mornings between 22:00 and 04:00.

The Oxford City Angels team is a close-knit group and we will maintain this dynamic going forward. Successful applicants will be of a caring and compassionate nature and be willing to operate in a team in testing conditions in the service of others. Applicants will have no criminal record (spent or unspent) relating to crimes of a violent or sexual nature. Applicants will agree to submit to referencing and a DBS (disclosure and barring service) check. If your DBS check or references are unsuitable the recruitment process will be terminated and you will not be eligible to reapply. We reserve the right to reject any application at any time.

As a Oxford City Angel applicant you will understand that:

Applicants must be 18 years or over

Volunteers agree to take part in a 6hr hour shift once a month on a Saturday night/Sunday morning between 22:00 and 04:00

Volunteers will be sensitive, understanding and non-judgmental when engaging with or supporting service users

During a shift volunteers are likely to engage with and support a survivor/victim of sexual harassment/violence Please do consider this before applying

Volunteers will often support highly intoxicated people. If you have a significant aversion to blood or vomit this will not be a role for you

Volunteers are likely to engage with challenging individuals and respond to distressing incidents

Our volunteers often walk between 5 to 10 miles every shift
