Only 1 in 10 people with a substance use disorder (SUD) receive treatment. Stigma is a key barrier. Using language that puts the person first reduces stigma by helping people with SUD get the treatment they need and promotes patient-centered care from the healthcare team. The Grayken Center for Addiction created the Words Matter Pledge as a call to action and a commitment to helping us create a stigma-free community. Take the pledge to end stigma by signing below!
