SUMMARY
Our US-based company creates and publishes horror stories to scare horror lovers all over the world. We’ve been operating since 2015 and have 140+ titles in our catalog. We’re looking for hard-working, creative and highly motivated individuals to work our literary translations (short stories and novels.)
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re employing a software assisted process where our stories go through a software translated first draft which brings the manuscript to 50-60%. Afterwards, we have 1 translator (that’s you!) who is responsible for bringing the German manuscript to 100% in a publishing ready state.
Upon publication, we’d love to put your name under the editing credits to build up your portfolio.
Our ideal candidate
• Is Native or Fluent in written English and Standard German
• Has a solid track record of translating fiction stories from English to Standard German
• Has experience with translating stories in the horror genre (preferred but not required)
• Is able to translate up to 2000 – 5000 words per day
• Doesn’t mind having their name credited on the manuscript under “edited by”
• Will submit final manuscripts that are proofread and free of grammatical and spelling errors
• Will deliver work on or before agreed upon deadlines
COMPENSATION
Negotiable and highly dependent on your experience. Fill out the form with your most competitive rate for every 10,000 words. This will play a huge part in your consideration. Payment will be initiated when the manuscript is finalized and approved by our team members.
This is a project-based position. The faster you’re able to translate while keeping the manuscript high quality, the more books we can send you.
HOURS
This is a project-based position so the hours are flexible as long as deadlines are met. Work will be ongoing as long as the quality is there (We do have 140+ titles!)
